I wouldn't mind Brees and LT sharing the MVP award at all. I think they
both deserve it.
If however you look a little closer, there are a few things that I feel
qualify Brees more than LT.
First, Brees had to come back from a major injury to his throwing
shoulder which could have ended his career.
Second, he went to a completely new team and new city and a new rookie
head coach. Third, he had to acclimate himself to his new teammates,
learn a new offense while having an offensive line made up of players
that never had started, or started at the same position.
To have overcome all that on top of I would bet being dissapointed
about being dropped by the Chargers, to have done what he has done is
nothing short of incredible and deserving of the MVP award
Because of Brees' emergence as the top signal caller in the NFC, the
Saints are in the midst of what may prove to be their best season ever.
New Orleans' greatest QB in franchise history, Archie Manning, never
had the kind of impact Brees does right now. The 26-year-old has helped
save a city that was left for dead by many Americans. Heck, even the
football team was all but assured of heading to the greener pastures of
Los Angeles. Not now, and those in the Big Easy can thank Brees for
that.
Ultimately, the solution to the L.T-Brees conundrum is to have
co-most valuable players. No, it isn't glamorous. It is, however, what
should happen. These two players, on different levels, have been
equally amazing this year. San Diego is 13-2, dominating a strong AFC;
New Orleans, meanwhile, is a shocking 10-5, a record good enough to
clinch a first-round bye and NFC South championship. These two greats should split the award !
